The days of getting your parcel delivered to your balcony might become a reality very soon.
U.S.-based Federal Express Corporation, FedEx, and the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Madras, have completed India’s first intracity drone delivery trial in the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru. This project was implemented in partnership with Amberwing and an IIT Madras-incubated deep tech startup. Amberwing recently got a DGCA-approved type certificate for hybrid cargo drones.
During the trial, a test delivery was done between Bangalore International Airport and Electronic City Phase 2, which typically is a 60-minute journey on a road, reduced to only a 21-minute flight time. The trial flight was conducted in coordination with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
